Horse Assisted Therapy for Veterans

"As prey animals, horses are hypervigilant until they learn they are not in danger. ... Because of their own hypervigilance, veterans with PTSD easily understand and can relate to the trust and hypervigilance in a horse."  Read more about Horse Assisted Therapy.

Upcoming Classes

Groundwork and Riding Clinic Dec. 2nd 2017

This is a one day riding and groundwork clinic offered by Jere and Jereny Johnson that will take place at HARTH Foundation facilities.
Clinic:  9:00am - 3:00pm
The clinicians will first spend time doing some basic ground work to help evaluate each horse.  The horses will be moved on the forehand, hind quarter, through pressure etc so that each part of the horse moves and problem areas with movement can be identified.  Horse personalities will also be assessed to give attendees a better idea of how to work with their horse while in the saddle.  Once this portion is complete, attendees will mount their horses and proper position and the 'whys' of the position will be covered.  Both english and western riders are welcome.

If there is a specific problem with a horse, we will have a session going on in parallel where attendees can get special attention to help them work through the issue.

This clinic is $160 and lunch will be provided.  Pre-registration is required.  Stalls are available for $20/day.  Horse owners are expected to supply their own shavings, feed, hay etc.  Please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
