Horse Assisted Therapy for Veterans "As prey animals, horses are hypervigilant until they learn they are not in danger. ... Because of their own hypervigilance, veterans with PTSD easily understand and can relate to the trust and hypervigilance in a horse."  Read more about Horse Assisted Therapy.

Join our Bue Ribbon Club and help care for our horses which are at the heart of the HARTH Foundation programs.  Your sponsorship of one of our wonderful horses provides the essentials needed for these beautiful animals to remain healthy and happy.  All of the horses used in the HARTH Foundation programs require daily, ongoing care. Daily care is a mandatory requirement for the horses used in our program because if the horse is not healthy and pain free, the horses cannot be effectively used in the programs offered.

When sponsoring all or a portion of a  horses care, you will receive regular updates on the horse’s activities and achievements, have your name listed on our website and  will be identified as the horses’ sponsor on our Blue Ribbon Club display area.  Your sponsorship plays a major role in helping those we serve improve their quality of life.  Your donation is making a positive difference in peoples lives.  Click here to meet our herd!

What does it cost monthly to care for a horse?

Our horses are retired competition horses, so regular vet care, injections, and preventative maintenance are crucial for them to have a long and pain-free retirement.  The horses used in our programs have had extensive and successful careers on the show circuit and are accustomed to constant attention -  daily interactions, handling and grooming and the safety and comfort of their stalls. Daily care includes stable care, twice daily feeding, daily turnout, stall cleaning, managing supplements, regular health inspections, night check, evening ‘snack’, veterinary and farrier management, and 24 x 7 care.

How to sponsor a horse

You can sponsor ANY AMOUNT of a horse's care - you choose the amount you are comfortable with.  You can make a one-time donation or a recurring donation; either way your donation goes towards the care of the horse you are sponsoring.  Just click here to go to the donation page, pick the name of the horse you want to sponsor in the "Campaign" field and fill in the form.  Any donation brings us closer to our goal of having all of the horses that are part of our programs sponsored.
